Willow is one of my younger cats, very sweet but shy. She's much fuzzier nowadays I found an old photo of Willow as a kitten, lying on this tatty bobbled blanket on an ancient old sofa. I thought a bit of an artistic facelift might be fun, and I wanted to try painting a whole cat rather than just the head.
I made a few ditsy mistakes - left ear was too big, the paws drove me crazy and the eyes ended up slightly too big. I also got lost in the body fuzz for a while, but then hit on the right combination of brushing, smudging and shading to get more realistic fuzz that I liked. The fabric was a bit more awkward at the front, but I didn't want to detail it up to the point where it pulled attention away from Willow.
I'm happy with my results on this picture though, it taught me a lot and overall I think I did a decent job.
maybe interesting for you is that i am improving my set of brushes for mypaint. is tagged right now on mypaint as "ramon" . i am working in make them faster and more acurated. what would you like to have as a brush? maybe i will make it.
I'm not sure how easy it would be to make, but I'd like to try a fur brush which was darker at the "base" the light on the tips. Any new fur brushes you could do would be brilliant though
My cat is Mona Liza. She is Chinchilla and Persian.
