Meet my golden retriever, Hamish. He's just had his 11th birthday so I thought he deserved a painting. He lay down in front of the halogen heater and I loved how the light lit his face. And yes, his nose really is that colour, we usually joke that he stuck it in too many places and rubbed the black off.

As usual, this was painted in MyPaint and then cropped/signed using the Gimp. It proved more challenging than I'd first expected, but I think it came together fairly well.

Beautiful dog and good technique! i like the sense of fur. I find so tender you paint your dog, really you love him. Dogs are amazing friends, loyals, and a source of happines. I have hasd a lot of them although now i cant by work. i miss that feeling of arriving home and see them waiting you. I love dogs. specially Irish Setter

I enjoy painting animals I know, then I can put some personality into their portraits. My little dog is next I think, I can't paint one without doing the other :D
